Relocating a business to Kazakhstan: where to start

SHANYRAQ Legal, Legal team · 5/30/2026

Relocating a business is not only company registration but also taxes, a bank account, staff and visas. The right order of actions saves time and money.

Step 1. Structure

Choose a form (LLP/AIFC/branch) and jurisdiction to fit your business model and taxes. Decide where the holding sits and where the operating company sits.

Step 2. Registration and tax records

Register the company, get tax-registered and, if necessary, register for VAT.

Step 3. Bank and compliance

Open an account (the bank performs identification and screening — see compliance and KYC). The more transparent the structure, the easier it is to pass.

Step 4. Staff and visas

For foreign employees — work visas C3–C6 and foreign workforce permits; for investor-executives — A5/A6.

Step 5. Contracts and intellectual property

Transfer/re-execute key contracts, and register rights to brands and IP in Kazakhstan.
