Visas of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The visa category follows the purpose of stay, not convenience: an application filed under the wrong category is returned, and the fee and time are lost. AIFC participants need no work permit or quota (Art. 8 of the AIFC Constitutional Law), but the visa, state fee, fingerprinting and arrival notification are processed in the usual way. Documents are accepted by the Expat Centre; the decision is made by the Migration Service of the Astana Police Department.
Procedure
Category by purpose
C3 — employment (1–5 years, multiple entry), C3 dependent — the employee's spouse and children, B1–B3 — business trips with no dependent visas, A5 — investor together with AIFC tax residency, B8 — entry for permanent residence.
we confirm on requestFiling route
Applicant abroad — the company issues an invitation, the visa is granted at a Kazakhstan mission. Applicant already in Kazakhstan lawfully — the visa is issued or extended in-country.
Document package
Passport, photo, qualification document (for C3), employment contract or order, company documents, the host's petition, power of attorney and data-processing consent. One document per file, PDF up to 50 MB, notarised translations.
checklist on the rightArrival notification
Filed by the host party via eQonaq or the Expat Centre. The purpose of stay in the notification must match the visa purpose — a mismatch surfaces at filing.
Fee and filing
The host pays the fee, a separate receipt per applicant (BCC 108126, PPC 911). A first C3 is filed only in Astana; the passport is handed in and collected in person.
original receiptIssue and extension
Extension is filed no earlier than 30 days and no later than 5 business days before the visa expires. The new term is capped by the passport — renew it in advance.

Questions and answers
Does an AIFC participant need a foreign labour permit?
No. AIFC participants and bodies hire foreigners without a permit, no quota applies, and the employee needs no separate employment permit. A visa is still required.
Can family come on a business visa?
No: category B has no dependent visas at all. Family members get C3 dependent (with a work visa) or A5 dependent (with an investor visa).
How much does a C3 visa via the Expat Centre cost?
As of September 2026: Expat Centre service — 370,000 ₸ per person with a personal manager, state fee — 129,750 ₸, fingerprinting — 10,000 ₸. Tariffs are verified on the portal on the filing date.
What are the A5 visa and investment residency?
The Expat Centre ITRP programme: an investment of at least USD 60,000 into an AIFC-law company gives tax residency and an A5 visa for 1–5 years with dependent visas. Key condition — the investment is owned by the applicant personally, not by a foreign parent company.
As of 09.09.2026 · MCI 4,325 ₸. Information is for reference; requirements and tariffs are set by the authorities and confirmed on the date of application.
