A residence permit grants the right to live permanently in Kazakhstan while keeping your home citizenship, and noticeably simplifies daily life — banks, real estate and employment.
Who it suits
Those who plan to live and work in Kazakhstan for a long time: investors, specialists in in-demand professions, family members of citizens/residents, former compatriots, and ethnic Kazakhs (kandas).
Basic requirements
As a rule — proof of legal income and solvency, no criminal record, medical certificates, and a ground for residence. For a number of grounds, entry is via a B8/B9 visa (for arranging permanent residence) or a C-category visa.
Stages
- Ground.
- Entry on the appropriate visa (or under the visa-free regime).
- Filing for the residence permit with the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- Fingerprinting.
- Receiving the residence permit card.
Afterwards — access to simplified procedures and, in time, to naturalisation (if needed).
What matters
Solvency and a legal source of income are frequent stumbling blocks; documents are translated and legalised in advance (apostille/consular legalisation).
